Aevora LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates Motara ("the Service"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our Service.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. We do not sell your personal data. We do not show advertisements. Your vehicle documentation is yours alone.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address
  • Name (if provided via Google/Apple Sign-In)
  • Profile photo (if provided via Google/Apple Sign-In)
  • Authentication identifiers from Google or Apple

Vehicle Information

When you add vehicles to the Service, we collect:

  • Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs)
  • Year, make, model, trim, and specifications
  • Mileage and condition information
  • Photos you upload
  • Documents you upload (titles, registrations, receipts, etc.)
  • Service history and maintenance records

Payment Information

Payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your full credit card number. We receive and store:

  • Last four digits of your card
  • Card expiration date
  • Billing address
  • Stripe customer identifier
  • Subscription status and payment history

Usage Information

We automatically collect:

  • Device type and browser information
  • IP address
  • Pages visited and features used
  • Date and time of access
  • Error logs and performance data

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the Service
  • Process your subscription payments
  • Decode VINs and provide vehicle information
  • Analyze documents using AI to extract relevant data
  • Calculate and update vehicle valuations
  • Send expiration alerts and recall notifications
  • Facilitate vehicle transfers between users
  • Respond to your support requests
  • Send service-related communications
  • Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
  • Comply with legal obligations

AI Document Processing

When you upload documents, we use AI services (OpenAI) to analyze the content and extract structured information. This processing:

  • Is performed solely to provide you with document organization features
  • Does not use your documents to train AI models
  • Is subject to OpenAI's data usage policies for API customers
  • Extracted text is stored in our database for search and organization

Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in these circumstances:

Service Providers

We share information with third-party service providers who help us operate the Service:

  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) - Cloud hosting and storage
  • Stripe - Payment processing
  • Google/Apple - Authentication services
  • OpenAI - Document analysis
  • Sentry - Error monitoring
  • Resend/AWS SES - Email delivery

Vehicle Transfers

When you transfer a vehicle to another user, the receiving user gains access to all documentation history for that vehicle. This is the intended functionality to maintain complete provenance records.

Public Profiles

If you enable public profile sharing for a vehicle, selected information becomes publicly accessible via the shared link. You control what information is visible.

Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or government request, or to protect our rights, property, or safety.

Business Transfers

In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred. We will notify you of any such change.

Data Storage and Security

We implement industry-standard security measures:

  • All data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2+
  • Database and file storage are encrypted at rest
  • Access to production systems is restricted and logged
  • Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
  • Secure authentication via OAuth 2.0 (Google/Apple)

Your data is stored on servers in the United States operated by Amazon Web Services.

Data Retention

We retain your data as follows:

  • Active accounts: Data is retained as long as your account is active
  • Cancelled accounts: Data is retained for 90 days to allow reactivation, then permanently deleted
  • Audit logs: Retained for 2 years for security purposes
  • Payment records: Retained for 7 years per financial regulations

You may request data deletion at any time by contacting support@motara.app.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access - Request a copy of your personal data
  • Correction - Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Deletion - Request deletion of your data
  • Export - Download your data in a portable format
  • Objection - Object to certain processing activities

California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act:

  • Right to non-discrimination for exercising privacy rights

European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

  • Right to data portability
  • Right to object to processing

Our legal basis for processing is contract performance (providing the Service) and legitimate interests (improving and securing the Service).

Cookies and Tracking

We use essential cookies for:

  • Authentication and session management
  • Security and fraud prevention
  • Remembering your preferences (e.g., theme)

We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. We do not share data with advertising networks.

Children's Privacy
